The Elephant Safari – Kenya

This safari will allow you to learn and understand the behavior of elephants directly from our very able researchers and guides. Apart from the elephant observation, you will also manage to view different species of the flora and fauna that the parks have to offer. The beauty of these ecosystems is topped up by beautiful landscapes, rivers, and waterfalls that complement life in the wild. The whole safari will be magnificently done by a well-informed team to ensure that the experience goes beyond your envisioned expectations.

 

Upon arrival, you will be transferred to Ole Sereni Hotel, Nairobi by the WildEx Team.

OVERNIGHT AT OLE SERENI HOTEL

Tsavo East National Park, southern region, is 4,000 km2 with an elephant population of 6,072 individuals in 2017. The habitat in this region is predominately bushland, tree-bush, riverine and open grassland. There are some areas where we can walk around to observe elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and birds behaviors are  Mudanda Rock waterhole and Galana River’s Lugards Falls.

After breakfast in Nairobi, we will drive south to Voi Wildlife Lodge, adjacent to Tsavo East National Park in time for a late lunch. Dr. Barbara McKnight, Tsavo Elephant Researcher, will meet you when you arrive. After lunch, we will have an orientation and observe elephants, wildlife, and birds at the lodge waterhole.

You will have the unique opportunity to assist in identifying known bulls and families and contribute to the conservation of the elephants by participating in the Tsavo Elephant Research. On day two, in the morning, you will learn about Tsavo history, elephant physiology, behavior, and how to identify the unique features of each elephant. In the afternoon, we will go to the field to search for known elephants.

We will spend the next two days in the field, identifying known bulls and families, observing elephants and other wildlife behavior. For information on the Tsavo Elephant Research, see www.tsavoelephants.org

OVERNIGHTS AT VOI WILDLIFE LODGE [FB]

Amboseli National Park (392 km2) is located at the east base of Mount Kilimanjaro. The habitat in the National Park is predominantly tree-grass or open grassland. Most of the 1,500 elephants in this ecosystem utilize the National Park seasonally. It is often common to see large family units.

After breakfast in Tsavo West, we will drive northwest to Amboseli in time for lunch at the Serena Lodge. After lunch on the first day, we will go to the field to search for elephants and other wildlife. We will spend two days in the field observing them and other wildlife behaviors.

After breakfast, we will drive to the famous Masai Mara Game Reserve and arrive in time for lunch at Mara Olapa Tented Camp. You will spend the next 2 days in the Mara with unlimited wildlife, photography, and interpretation of behavior in all we find.

After an early morning game drive. We will depart to Nairobi where you will be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your flight.
